Team McGinnity is moving locations!

My husband, a member of Team McGinnity, just got his acceptance to CID school and we leave next month. Sadly that means that Team McGinnity will no longer be able to help our the USAG Stuttgart. We will do all we can until we leave but its only a month more. We hope to set up camp quickly at our new duty station and begin helping more people.

Mom Prom July 12 2009

Well, the Mom Prom was a load of fun. We only had three families but we had a great time. There were games, snacks, drinks and some dancing. Hopefully those kids are tired from all the running around, the moms deserve it don't you think!

Run to Remember July 11 2009

Team McGinnity did well at the Run to Remember. Todd was our half marathon runner who placed 11th overall and 4th in his age group with a time of 1:36:29! Well done Todd considering how hilly the course was. Jacki placed 12th in her age group...with a stroller... for a time of 30:14, dropping 4 minutes of her 5K time from last week, also on a hilly course! Both got a little emotional since the event is to remember our fallen comrades, Jacki about started crying with running! Take the time to pray for the families of the fallen, its because of them we live in a free country.

Finalizing Paperwork

Great news all! Team McGinnity is almost finished with the paperwork to become a USAG-Stuttgart recognized Private Organization. Once we are finished and approved with be able to do tons of fundraising, advertise in more papers and use USAG buildings to hold our activities! Isn't this exciting. Keep those ideas coming for what you would like to see in our community.

Mom Prom July 12 1300-1500 @ USO

Price: $15 per couple, $5 per additional child.
Cost includes snacks, drinks, Disney movie raffle and "prom" picture.

Firecracker 5K Fun Run July 4 2009

Greetings! Team McGinnity was present at Firecracker 5K Fun Run, today at Patch Barracks in Stuttgart Germany. There was only two of us but we did well. Todd placed 4th overall with a time of 18:04 and I came in somewhere in the middle of the pack, pushing Dakota in the stroller, with a time of 34:12 (with bits of walking...it was getting quite warm there at the end). It was a great time and we will be looking forward to running in the Run to Remember 5K and Half-Marathon on July 11th!

Harry Potter Movie Marathon

Patch Theatre will have the debut of "Harry Potter and the Half Blood Prince" at 0001 on Friday July 24 (tickets going on sale at 2300).

Team McGinnity will be sponsoring a marathon of the first 5 movies leading up to the 6th movie release. It will be about 13 hours on Harry Potter, if we have it straight through.

We are currently looking for a venue, which we will be able to figure out once we decided whether or not to do a movie a day or all of them the same day.

Dog Days of Summer!

Hello again!

We have decided to have the dog playgroup split into 4 different days at each of the post's dog runs (that way no one has to drive too far). Each day the hours are from 1300-1430.

July 18 - Panzer Dog Run

July 19 - RB Dog Run

July 25 - Patch Dog Run

July 26 - Kelley Dog Run

Please be sure to bring water for your dog, we will try to have some bowls for the dogs to drink from. You can bring treats for your dog as well.

This is a free event but donations are appreciated and will go towards other Team McGinnity events.

Green Time!

Family and Friends,

Summer is upon us, this is the time when it is the easiest to go green. Bike or walk instead of driving everywhere (if it is reasonable). Pick up trash around your block or neighborhood. Pull weeds to let the good stuff grow. Open up your windows to let a nice breeze. When you leave your house during the day, turn up your thermostat (no need to cool an empty house). Make use of your ceiling fans. String up some clothesline and air dry your clothes ( I love that fresh scent...plus if you use 1/4 to 1/2 cup white vinegar during the rinse cycle so that they don't crunch on the line). These are just a few ideas. Add a comment if you have any other ideas so that we all can enjoy being green.

Team McGinnity fundraisers?

We were not able to get an open area that is closed in enough for all of the dogs to play together. We have now devised a plan around that. We will be holding 4 days in which dogs can play together. Each day will be at a different dog run so that no one has to travel too far to have a doggy play day. The days are still in the works but won't be until after the Mom Prom.

Let us know if you have any other ideas for fundraisers. We have some in mind but would love to hear how creative you all can get.

Opening Event Decided

We have decided that the event where Team McGinnity is presented to the community and the world will be a Mom Prom in the USAG Stuttgart, here in Germany.
